Beaches of Serifos

Serifos is an island full of bays and amazing sandy beaches with crystal clear waters, ready to welcome visitors and help them relax under the bright sun and the blue sky of the Cyclades.

Here you can find out about the known beaches of the island. But, there are more for you to discover and enjoy: Alevrakia, Kalogeros, Psaradika, Dio Gialoudia, Karavas etc.

Avessalos: One of the few beaches where you can enjoy the sunset. It has sand and fine pebbles and it is relatively deserted.

Agios Sostis: A liliputian peninsula is connected to the rest of the island through a narrow strip of land and it creates an even smaller beach. The opening to the south makes it ideal for anchorage during ‘meltemia’. It has tamarix trees, nice seabed, thick sand and great fans!

Agios Ioannis: Twenty meters below the beautiful chapel dating back to 1781 there is the less cosmopolitan beach of the island’s eastern side. It has big tamarix trees, sand and pebbles.

Avlomonas: Next to Livadi, 1.5km long, it may not be one of the most beautiful beaches in Serifos, but it has crystal clear waters and there is a route leading there that is accessible by car.

Vagia: Windless when ‘meltemia’ blow with fantastic waters and fine pebbles. When the sun sets, you can take a walk on the path passing by cape Chalara and above the base of the loading ladder that still stands there.

Ganema: It is a case similar to that of Vagia. Golden sand, tamarix trees, clear waters. If Coming from Vagia you do not have an off-road vehicle, you will park along with the others at the edge of the beach and you will walk.

Kalo Ampeli: Absolutely green waters, sand and wide rocks, no shadow. The path passes by the beautiful chapel of Sotiras and it is visible there up to the beach. You will descent it in approximately 15 minutes.

Kalogeros: Following the path on the right of Malliadiko and after trekking for about 20 minutes you will get to exquisite Kalogeros. The threshing floor and the tall windswept palm tree offer the beach a special aura.

Karavas: It is located on the north of the island and it has sand and pebbles. You descent from the path beginning from the beautiful chapel of Agia Thekla (Sklavogiannis area – See Off-Road) which until the col of Kefala is accessible, but afterwards it is indiscernible and requires attention.

Karavi: Wonderful waters, flat rocks, golden sand. At the opening of the cove there is a reef dangerous for the floatables, where its peak stops a few centimeters below the sea surface. At this point two shipwrecks have been discovered, at different time periods, loaded with ancient amphorae that the fishermen would bring to the sea surface for years.

Koutalas (Spoon-shaped): It must have taken its name after the shape of the bay that looks like a spoon. It has clear waters and an interesting seabed. There is a little tavern as well.

Lia: One of the most beautiful beaches in the Cyclades with crystal clear waters. Take a mask with you to look around the lovely seabed and an umbrella for shadow. The islet across is called Vous.

Livadakia: It is the small sandy beach with the tamarix trees, on the western side of the port. Most of the rooms to let in the island are gathered over this area

Megalo Livadi: With shallow and calm waters, the bay is ideal for families as there are not many cars around, while there are shady taverns next to the sea.

Platys Gialos: The haven of the monastery of Taxiarches is distinguished from above. It is an enclosed bay with sand, nice waters in deep blue color and three small beaches: Platys Gialos, Mesiano and Vorino. The chapel is dedicated to Agioi Apostoloi (Holy Apostles).

Sykamia: Impressive, long beach, with shallow, fully green waters, tamarix trees and sand. It is quite possible that it took its name after the ‘sykaminies’ (mulberry trees) that existed during the Frankish rule. There is a tavern as well.

Psili Ammos: With green shallow waters, golden sand and tamarix trees. There are taverns and that is why it is so crowded in the summer.
